I have just finished the first week of the P90X program.
Today is a rest day. The first week of P90X was hard to say the least, but not impossible. The first day (1-2-09) consisted of pull-ups and chin ups (of which I could do ZERO) and pushups (on my knees). Then subsequent days, back and arms, a plyometric workout that kicked my butt, yoga that was hard but wonderful, a leg workout from hell and then yesterday, Kenpo which I really liked. Oh yeah, and an ab workout every other day that is completely INSANE. That was the first week.
The other half of the program (which I feel is the most important anyway) is the eating. High protein, low carb and low fat- a very reasonable healthy diet which I faithfully stuck to (except for a little chocolate last night).
The reason I have embarked on this transformation journey is because I had gained between 10-15 lbs over the last 4-5 years. Between finding out that I was hypothyroid, turning 40 and going back to school for my master's degree, the weight came on and stayed- and turned to yucky flab. 2009 is my year to regain optimal weight, body fat percentage and take my health to the next level.
I'm not proud of these pictures. I used to be so firm and fit. But here they are. Posting these is impetus to keep going...so that I can post really GREAT looking pictures later. I see this as a form of accountability.
I don't think you can objectively look at yourself in the mirror everyday. You need pictures.
